 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Mary Elizabeth Dunham is celebrating her 80th
 birthday on April 29, 2011, and this significant occasion presents
 an ideal opportunity to honor a beloved Houstonian; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1931, Mary Dunham
 has lived in the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood in Houston for more
 than 55 years; active in her community, she assists in feeding the
 hungry and counsels young people on the importance of education,
 and she volunteers for and participates in many events for local
 senior citizens, even providing transportation when needed; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Dunham has been a faithful member of the Duncan
 Memorial Church of God in Christ for more than half a century and
 has generously shared her time and talents with the church and its
 ministries; and
 WHEREAS, She raised eight children, Bernita, Andre,
 Fredrick, Larthia, Reginald, Byron, Eric, and Mark, and experienced
 the joy of seeing all of them go to college, attending such schools
 as Texas Tech University, the University of Houston, Prairie View
 A&M University, Texas Woman's University, and the University of
 Northern Iowa; Mrs. Dunham has also welcomed 45 grandchildren and
 21 great-grandchildren into her family; and
 WHEREAS, Mary Dunham is a source of wisdom and inspiration to
 all who are privileged to know her, and it is a pleasure to honor her
 on eight decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Elizabeth Dunham on the
 occasion of her 80th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Dunham as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
