No. 1491 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Amanda Rucker of Grand Saline High School was named the Most Valuable Player at the 8th Annual Azalea Orthopedics All-Stars Basketball Game on April 2, 2011; and WHEREAS, A senior, Ms. Rucker led the West Team to victory; she scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocked shots during the game, thrilling spectators with her outstanding performance; and WHEREAS, This gifted athlete was recently named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State Team; in addition, she was selected as a member of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-State Team; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her high school career, Ms. Rucker has scored 1,900 points and brought down more than 1,300 rebounds, and she has blocked 425 shots; her contributions guided the Grand Saline Lady Indians to win 19 games this year, a record for the girls' program; and WHEREAS, Amanda Rucker has demonstrated a praiseworthy commitment to excellence, distinguishing herself through hard work and dedication, and her achievements have earned the respect and admiration of her fellow players, coaches, and classmates; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Amanda Rucker on her selection as Most Valuable Player at the 8th Annual Azalea Orthopedics All-Stars Basketball Game and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Rucker as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
