No. 1520 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Rebecca Leigh Rowe of Wills Point has completed the rigorous requirements necessary to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can attain; and WHEREAS, To achieve this distinction, a young woman must meet exacting prerequisites that promote community service, personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership skills, and she must plan and execute a Gold Award project that will be of lasting benefit to the community; and WHEREAS, Throughout her 12-year scouting career, this fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the ideals of the Girl Scout program and gained the respect and admiration of her peers as she pursued the Gold Award; and WHEREAS, In addition to compiling an impressive record of accomplishments in scouting, Becca Rowe has excelled in academics and in a number of other extracurricular pursuits; an officer in the National Honor Society, she has won honors for headline writing, editorial writing, and literary criticism in UIL journalism team competition, earned a silver Presidential Volunteer Service Award, and received four Who's Who awards from her school; moreover, she plays clarinet in the Wills Point Symphonic Band and has been named to the All-Region Band three times and the All-Area Band once; and WHEREAS, Ms. Rowe has proven herself to be an exemplary member of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Rebecca Leigh Rowe on joining the elite group of Girl Scout Gold Award recipients and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Rowe as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
