No. 1532 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Anthony Dane Schaefer of Waco, who died on March 30, 2011, at the age of 45; and WHEREAS, Dane Schaefer was born in Landstuhl, Germany, on May 5, 1965, to George and Charlene Schaefer; he joined the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1984 to 1997 and attaining the rank of master sergeant; his outstanding efforts in behalf of his country earned him a Bronze Star; and WHEREAS, Following his military career, Mr. Schaefer worked for several electronics companies; he later shared his time and energy as a volunteer director of the Independence Center, a community facility for people with mental illness; and WHEREAS, Dane Schaefer was a brave soldier, a caring husband and friend, and an advocate for many people in need, and the contributions he made in each of those roles will long inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Anthony Dane Schaefer and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Deborah Schaefer; to his stepson, Jared Grooms; to his father, George Schaefer; to his brother, Shane Schaefer; to his niece, Amanda Schaefer; to his nephew, Charlie Schaefer; to his aunts, Nelda Rogers, Peggy McClain, and Joy Shattell; to his uncles, Larry West and Jeff Cagle; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anthony Dane Schaefer.
