 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, John and Suebeth Burge of Conroe celebrated their
 53rd wedding anniversary on April 2, 2011, offering a welcome
 opportunity to commend these esteemed Texans for their many years
 of civic involvement; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Burge were united in matrimony on that
 special day in 1958, and they have since nurtured a fulfilling
 marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of three
 children and four grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Alvin, Mr. Burge served his country in
 the United States Army for two years and subsequently went to work
 for the Hughes Tool Company; he was later employed by an insurance
 company and a savings and loan in Alvin before moving to Conroe in
 1963 to open a chartered bank; today he is vice president of the
 First Bank of Conroe; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Burge has been a member of the City of Conroe
 Parks and Recreation advisory board for 30 years, and a new park
 scheduled for completion in 2011 is being named in his honor;
 moreover, he has been active in the Lions Club for half a century,
 has served on the Montgomery County Fair Association board, and is a
 captain in the Montgomery County sheriff's reserve unit; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Burge devoted 33 years to schoolchildren in the
 Conroe Independent School District, and she is retired from
 teaching at Sam Houston Elementary; she has been a strong supporter
 of her husband in all of his endeavors, and she attributes the
 longevity of their marriage to accepting the differences in their
 personalities and even benefiting from them; and
 WHEREAS, Montgomery County is indeed fortunate to have
 dedicated citizens like John and Suebeth Burge, and their
 commitment to one another and to their community is an inspiration
 to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate John and Suebeth Burge on their
 53rd wedding anniversary and honor them for their many outstanding
 contributions to the area; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
