No. 1565 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Pat Campos is retiring from her position as director of the case management unit of the Webb County Juvenile Department on April 27, 2011, and the conclusion of her outstanding career provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on the contributions of this esteemed Texan; and WHEREAS, Ms. Campos began working with the department on April 3, 1981, as a detention officer; her commitment and talent earned her promotions to probation officer in 1985 and to supervisor in 1994; and WHEREAS, Her dedication to serving the needs of young people has been further reflected in her membership in organizations such as the International Latino Gang Investigators Association, the Texas Gang Investigators Association, the Texas Probation Association, the Texas Corrections Association, and the Juvenile Justice Association of Texas; and WHEREAS, In addition to her professional duties, Ms. Campos has given back to her community by assisting a variety of important organizations; she is vice chair of the Webb County Appraisal District Board and a member of the City of Laredo Para Transit Advisory Committee and Drug and Alcohol Commission; moreover, she has served on the Blessed Sacrament Parish Council and Catholic School Board and as a member of the boards of the Laredo Job Corps, Catholic Social Services of Laredo, and the Laredo-Webb County Community Action Agency, for which she held the office of advisory board president; she has also been a Daisy and Brownie Girl Scout Leader as well as a youth minister and catechist; and WHEREAS, A trustee of the United Independent School District, Ms. Campos was first elected to the board as a representative of District 3 in May 2003, and she was reelected for a second term in 2006; during her tenure on the school board, she has served as parliamentarian, vice president, and instructional committee chair, and she has been president since 2008; and WHEREAS, Ms. Campos prepared for her career by earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Laredo State University and also holds a paralegal certificate from Texas A&M International University; and WHEREAS, The hard work, professionalism, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by Pat Campos have greatly benefited her fellow Webb County citizens, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Pat Campos on her retirement from the Webb County Juvenile Department and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Campos as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
