No. 1572 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Clarabelle Snodgrass has earned the 2010 Governor's Award for Historic Preservation, the highest honor bestowed by the Texas Historical Commission; and WHEREAS, A fifth-generation resident of Kerr County, Mrs. Snodgrass has been a vital member of the local historical commission for more than 30 years; she has helped document the colorful history of the area as editor of the Kerr County Album, which was published to celebrate the 1986 Texas Sesquicentennial and now serves as a primary source for information about local families, organizations, and events; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Snodgrass has devoted more than two decades of service as chair of the county marker committee, overseeing the placement of 32 historical markers during her tenure, and she has contributed to the commission's oral history project; and WHEREAS, Among her most notable achievements was the integral role that she played in preserving two local buildings; through her efforts, the 1890 Tivy High School Building in Kerrville was restored, and today it serves as the school district's administration center; in addition, she championed the preservation of the Union Church, and under her able guidance, the facility was moved to the campus of Schreiner University, where it now is used to host private and public community events; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Snodgrass has also shared her time and talents with the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the parade committee, and the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association Auxiliary; through the years, she has been recognized with a number of honors, including the Texas Award for Historic Preservation and the titles of Citizen of the Year from the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce and Woman of the Year from the American Legion; and WHEREAS, Clarabelle Snodgrass has helped ensure that future generations will have a tangible connection with the history of this state, and she has earned the respect and gratitude of many of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Clarabelle Snodgrass on her receipt of the 2010 Governor's Award for Historic Preservation from the Texas Historical Commission and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all of her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Snodgrass as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
