 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
 mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Jack and Kay Huffman of
 Austin celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on April
 15, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Huffman were high school sweethearts in
 San Antonio and were joined in matrimony in 1961; they both
 graduated from The University of Texas at Austin while raising
 their family, which includes four treasured children, John,
 Carolyn, Nancy, and Neil, and five adored grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Huffman is
 retired from the Texas governor's office and the Legislative Budget
 Board and Mrs. Huffman is retired from the comptroller's office and
 the Texas Legislative Council; both were employed by the Lone Star
 State for more than 30 years, and they instilled a strong work ethic
 in their children as well as a desire to serve the public; and
 WHEREAS, Today, this inspiring couple run Emilie's Quilt
 Haus, a small quilt retreat facility in the Texas Hill Country near
 Stonewall; the facility is named for Mrs. Huffman's grandmother,
 Emilie Lindig, who was born in a one-room log cabin on the property;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Huffman have enjoyed five decades of
 abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
 exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
 commitment; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Kay Huffman on their
 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Huffman as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
