 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A delegation from Ed White Memorial High School in
 League City is visiting the State Capitol on May 4, 2011, and this
 occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor the school and its
 parent organization, Bay Area Charter Schools; and
 WHEREAS, Bay Area Charter Schools is a nonprofit,
 open-enrollment charter school community that serves 19
 independent school districts in the Galveston Bay area; its mission
 is to foster the excitement of learning through an interactive
 educational environment that values the gifts and talents of every
 child and to encourage cooperation among students, parents, and the
 community, and its schools are guided by the principle that
 students learn best in project-based environments that focus on
 real-world applications; and
 WHEREAS, Named in honor of the NASA astronaut, Ed White
 Memorial High School opened its doors in 1998; its classes are
 limited in size to 25 students, and the school is designed to
 address the individual needs of the students through a personalized
 curriculum; Ed White Memorial also features advanced placement and
 career and technology courses, online learning opportunities, and
 dual-enrollment courses offered in conjunction with College of the
 Mainland; and
 WHEREAS, Committed to its innovative, high-quality system of
 education, Bay Area Charter Schools is helping its students succeed
 academically and realize their full potential, and in so doing, it
 is building a solid foundation for the future achievement of many
 young Texans; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Bay Area Charter Schools and extend a warm
 welcome to the representatives from Ed White Memorial High School
 who are present at the State Capitol today; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Bay Area Charter Schools as an expression of high
 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
