 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, In a testament to its sound fiscal management,
 Irving Cares has received a four-star rating from Charity
 Navigator, the respected service that evaluates nonprofit groups in
 the United States; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1957, Irving Cares has dedicated itself
 to helping the city's working poor and families in crisis by
 promoting self-sufficiency; the organization offers its clients
 valuable resources that include a food pantry, employment services,
 transportation to medical facilities, and limited financial
 assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, and prescriptions; and
 WHEREAS, The four-star rating earned by Irving Cares is the
 highest ranking given by Charity Navigator and is only awarded to a
 quarter of the organizations it reviews; Irving Cares exceeds
 industry standards with more than 80 cents of every dollar that it
 raises going back into the community for program-related expenses;
 and
 WHEREAS, Positive recognition is nothing new to this North
 Texas charity; since 2001, Irving Cares has consistently achieved
 the United Way's top stewardship rating for fiduciary management
 and board oversight; in 2005, it received the Outstanding Community
 Partner Award from the City of Irving Housing and Human Services
 Department; and in 2008, TXU Energy Aid honored Irving Cares for 25
 years of continuous partnership in serving area residents; and
 WHEREAS, By demonstrating an unwavering commitment to
 responsibly serving those in need, Irving Cares has made a
 meaningful difference in the community for more than a
 half-century, and its sound practices are helping to ensure that
 the organization will remain a vital source of assistance for many
 years to come; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Irving Cares on receiving a
 four-star rating from Charity Navigator and commend the
 organization's staff for their exceptional work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Irving Cares as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
