H.R. No. 1692 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, San Antonio is fortunate to have engaged and civic-minded leaders like Dolores Mendez, whose dedicated efforts in behalf of her community have benefited many; and WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Alamo City, Mrs. Mendez graduated from Fox Tech High School; for the past 25 years, she has owned and operated the successful Mendez Cafe with her husband; the couple have three children, Joseph, Philip, and Vanessa, and their family has grown to include four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Though she has many business and family responsibilities, Mrs. Mendez has made time to give back to her fellow residents, working on issues regarding health, safety, crime, and infrastructure, and initiatives to assist the elderly and disadvantaged; in addition to her service on the San Antonio Water System Conservation Committee, she is a member of the San Antonio Police Department's Cellular on Patrol program and has contributed to a number of environmental cleanup efforts; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Mendez is also a founding member and the current secretary of the Quintana Community Neighborhood Association; in addition, she is helping the group to develop the Kelly South San Pueblo Community Plan; and WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their talents and time are indeed deserving of gratitude, and it is a pleasure to honor Dolores Mendez for her outstanding leadership and generosity of spirit; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commend Dolores Mendez for her contributions in behalf of San Antonio residents and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Mendez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
