H.R. No. 1693 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Mary Lopez Dale of Cedar Park competed in the 115th running of the Boston Marathon on April 18, 2011, marking a new milestone in her athletic accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Over the past several years, Ms. Dale has taken part in a number of demanding running events; during the 2009-2010 season, she came in third place in her age group in the Austin Distance Challenge, a contest consisting of seven long-distance, full-track events; and WHEREAS, A seasoned marathon competitor, she completed the Cedar Park Frankenthon Monster Marathon in 2009, and she ran the Austin Marathon in both 2009 and 2010; and WHEREAS, Her outstanding time of 3 hours, 40 minutes, 39 seconds, in the Dallas White Rock Marathon in 2009 qualified her for the Boston Marathon, and in 2011 she got her chance to run its challenging course; she finished the race in 4 hours, 22 minutes, 20 seconds, and may reflect proudly on being one of the select competitors to enter and complete this elite event; and WHEREAS, Mary Lopez Dale is a veteran of the U.S. armed forces and maintains a busy schedule as a wife, mother, and small business owner; despite her many commitments, she finds time to train and to run competitively in distance races, and her success is an inspiration to all who know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Lopez Dale on running the 115th Boston Marathon and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Dale as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
