82R25728 BPG-D By: Carter H.R. No. 1824 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Rabbi Yerachmiel D. Fried has been named an Outstanding Community Leader by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and WHEREAS, An esteemed scholar, author, and community leader, Rabbi Fried is dean of the Dallas Area Torah Association; he relocated to Dallas to found DATA in 1992 at the invitation of committed leaders in the community; and WHEREAS, Through DATA, members of the Jewish community are able to serve their fellow citizens and share Jewish folklore and culture with residents of Far North Dallas; Rabbi Fried heads both postgraduate Torah studies at DATA and the organization's adult education and outreach efforts; and WHEREAS, Rabbi Fried received his rabbinical training from Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach of Jerusalem; a prolific writer, Rabbi Fried is noted for his Halachic work, and particularly for Yom Tov Shini K'Hilchasa; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Rabbi Fried enjoys the support and encouragement of his wife, Miri, and their seven children, Tsippi, Benny, Elazar, Elisha, Tehilla, Shlomo Zalman, and Tzv; and WHEREAS, Admired for his wit, wisdom, and generosity, Rabbi Fried has benefited the community in myriad ways over the course of the past two decades, and this prestigious accolade is a testament to the high regard in which he is held; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Rabbi Yerachmiel D. Fried on his selection as an Outstanding Community Leader by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Rabbi Fried as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
