R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 100th birthday is indeed cause for celebration,
and Irene Buchanan marked that special milestone on April 20, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, A native of Victoria, Australia, Irene Buchanan
moved with her family from Ireland to Florida, where her father grew
grapes; she became the first member to earn a diploma when she
graduated from Orlando High School in 1929; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Buchanan shared a rewarding relationship with
her husband, Buck; today, she lives in Crane, near her sister, Maise
Lee; and
WHEREAS, Irene Buchanan is a source of tremendous
inspiration, and in sharing the experience gained through a century
of life well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that
benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby honor Irene Buchanan on her 100th birthday and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Buchanan as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
