 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
 the loss of U.S. Army Second Lieutenant Darryn Deen Andrews, who
 died on September 4, 2009, at the age of 34; and
 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute
 Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th
 Infantry Division, Lieutenant Andrews was based at Fort Richardson,
 Alaska; he was killed in action while bravely serving his country
 during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan; and
 WHEREAS, Darryn Andrews was born to Robert and Sondra Andrews
 in Ogden, Utah; he attended C. H. Yoe High School in Cameron, where
 he played baseball, football, and basketball and was active in
 drama and the student council; with scholarships from the Veterans
 of Foreign Wars and the Athletic Booster Club, he earned a
 bachelor's degree in business from Texas Tech University, and he
 went on to receive a master's degree in education administration
 from Texas State University; and
 WHEREAS, Since childhood, Mr. Andrews had been inspired by
 his grandfather's service in World War II, and after the attacks of
 9/11, he surprised no one when he answered his nation's call to duty
 and enlisted in the army; a proud soldier, he planned to dedicate
 his life to the military; and
 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Andrews married the former Julie Smith on
 February 26, 2007; the couple were blessed with a son, Daylan Deen,
 and Mrs. Andrews was pregnant with their second child at the time of
 her husband's death; and
 WHEREAS, Through his unfailing devotion to duty, honor, and
 this country, Lieutenant Andrews upheld the highest ideals of the
 United States armed forces, and those who were blessed to share in
 the richness of his life will forever carry him close in their
 hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Second Lieutenant
 Darryn Deen Andrews and extend sincere condolences to the members
 of his family: to his wife, Julie Andrews; to his children, Daylan
 Deen and Jacey D'Ann Andrews; to his parents, Robert "Andy" and
 Sondra Andrews; to his twin brother, Jarrett Andrews; to his
 grandmother, Colleen Andrews; to his parents-in-law, Lawrence and
 Shirley Smith; to his brother-in-law, Jeremy Smith; and to his
 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Second
 Lieutenant Darryn Deen Andrews.
