 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of John Poe
 of Moody, who passed away on April 4, 2011, at the age of 87; and
 WHEREAS, John Poe was born in Coryell County on June 17, 1923,
 to Thomas Riley Poe and Edna Izora Alton Poe; he grew up in Eddy and
 attended schools in Tick Hill and Moody before graduating from Eddy
 High School; and
 WHEREAS, Joined in matrimony to the former Catherine Morris
 in 1944, Mr. Poe shared a rewarding relationship with his wife that
 spanned 66 years, and he was the proud father of three children,
 Dianna, John, and Thomas; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Poe farmed in the Moody area until 1960, when he
 joined Hooker Construction Company; employed as a commercial
 carpenter for 31 years, he also held membership in Carpenters Local
 622 in Waco; he was later employed by the Moody Independent School
 District and retired as maintenance director in 1999; and
 WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith as well, he served as
 the Sunday school director and song leader at Liberty Hill Baptist
 Church and went on to join the First Baptist Church of Moody, where
 he served as a deacon and as a teacher in the youth department and
 the men's Bible class; he also benefited his community as a member
 of the Moody School Board, and he took pleasure in spending time
 outdoors hunting, fishing, and working with livestock; and
 WHEREAS, John Poe will be deeply missed, and cherished
 memories of time spent in his company will long endure in the hearts
 of those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Poe and extend
 sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Catherine Poe; to his daughter, Dianna Kay Vinson, and her husband,
 Bill; to his sons, John Morris Poe and his wife, Deborah, and Thomas
 Riley Poe and his wife, Martha; to his 7 grandchildren and 15
 great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Poe.
