 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Kerrville Municipal/Louis Schreiner Field Airport
 has been named the 2011 General Aviation Airport of the Year by the
 aviation division of the Texas Department of Transportation; and
 WHEREAS, Jointly owned by Kerr County and the City of
 Kerrville, the airport serves the business, recreation, and medical
 needs of Kerr County and provides general access to the heart of the
 Hill Country; the facility is situated on 528 acres and is home to
 more than 160 aircraft and several local businesses, including
 Mooney Airplane Company and Kerrville Aviation; and
 WHEREAS, In partnership with TxDOT, the airport has undergone
 several updates over the past decade, including the construction of
 a security fence and a new terminal building; moreover, taxiways
 and the entrance road were relocated to accommodate larger
 aircraft; local government and economic development corporations
 have also made important investments in the airport's development;
 since 2009, the airport has seen a marked increase in activity and
 now averages 60,000 operations a year; and
 WHEREAS, Kerrville Municipal/Louis Schreiner Field Airport
 enjoys the benefits of excellent infrastructure, a supportive
 community, and a capable management board and airport director, and
 its many contributions to the local economy make it a truly fitting
 choice for this prestigious award; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Kerrville Municipal/Louis
 Schreiner Field Airport on being named the 2011 General Aviation
 Airport of the Year by the Texas Department of Transportation
 aviation division and extend to the airport's management and staff
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Kerrville Municipal/Louis Schreiner Field Airport as
 an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
