H.R. No. 1994 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, In a thrilling demonstration of skill and determination, the Round Top-Carmine High School volleyball team claimed the University Interscholastic League 1A state championship with a victory in the title match at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos on November 20, 2010; and WHEREAS, The Cubettes advanced to the finals after beating Normangee High School in the semifinals in a closely contested battle in which each game was decided by a handful of points; the tournament final against a talented squad from Wink High School was even more contentious; after the Cubettes took the first two games by scores of 25-20 and 27-25, Wink High came back to tie the match with consecutive 25-20 victories; Round Top-Carmine then won the tiebreaker 15-7 by scoring the final eight points; the team closed out the year with a 34-11 record, including victories in its last 18 matches; and WHEREAS, Brook Conley, Emily Noak, and Megan Hohlt were named to the All-Tournament Team, and Ms. Hohlt, a freshman, was declared the most valuable player of the championship game; winning with a true team effort, the Cubettes also received vital contributions throughout the year from the other members of the roster: Jessica Bernshausen, Mandi Rudloff, Tori Brooks, Aby Cies, Bailey Dallmeyer, Mariah Newsome, Marissa Hibbeler, Amanda Leppard, and Amber Sternadel; the team managers are Londan Bayer, Adyson Lange, and Emma Leppard; and WHEREAS, This was the fourth state title for the Round Top-Carmine team, which has played in the state final 11 times and has made 16 appearances in the state tournament; this notable legacy has been overseen by head coach Tanya Nygrin, who has guided the Cubettes for 25 years; and WHEREAS, Winning a state title is the result of countless hours of hard work and an enduring commitment to excellence, and the members of the Round Top-Carmine volleyball team may take justifiable pride in this exceptional achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Round Top-Carmine High School volleyball team on winning the 2010-2011 University Interscholastic League 1A state championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
