 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The family, friends, and students of Michael Anthony
 Davis of Lake Jackson suffered an immeasurable loss with the death
 of this beloved father, coach, and mentor on April 9, 2011, at the
 age of 33; and
 WHEREAS, Coach Davis was known for always putting others
 above himself, and he exemplified this selflessness until the end;
 he and his wife had taken their children, ages two and four, and
 their children's young friends, on a boating trip, and Mr. Davis's
 final act was trying to save a three-year-old child who had fallen
 overboard; and
 WHEREAS, Born on September 15, 1977, Michael Davis attended
 Angleton schools, where he and his future wife, Tien Duong, met in
 the first grade and later became high school sweethearts; he went on
 to graduate from Texas A&M University in 2000 and to marry in 2004;
 and
 WHEREAS, Passionate about education, he found his dream job
 coaching sports and teaching history at West Brazos Junior High
 School in the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District, and he
 served as an inspiring role model there to many people over the
 course of the past eight years; and
 WHEREAS, Our state is fortunate to have men such as Michael
 Davis who dedicate their careers to public education and to making a
 difference in the lives of students for the betterment of future
 generations; and
 WHEREAS, He was devoted to his wife, with whom he shared a
 special bond; he also dearly loved his children, and he was
 committed to their happiness, as well as to their mental, physical,
 and spiritual well-being; and
 WHEREAS, Michael Anthony Davis embodied the highest
 standards of character and integrity and uplifted everyone around
 him with his upbeat outlook and generosity of spirit; those who knew
 and loved him will forever remember him as a true hero and carry his
 memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael Anthony Davis
 and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Tien Duong Davis; to his son, Anthony Davis; to his daughter,
 Ashlinh Davis; to his parents, Dennis and Linda Davis; to his
 sisters, Kelly Warnken and her husband, Joey, and Leigh Farris and
 her husband, Darren; to his parents-in-law, Thanh and Quynh Duong;
 to his sister-in-law, Chi Rocha, and her husband, Joe; and to his
 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael
 Anthony Davis.
