H.R. No. 2062 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Irma Aguirre of Mission was selected to participate in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the 82nd Legislative Session, she has ably served her fellow Texans as an aide in the office of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time policy interns and gain experience working with the Texas Legislature; and WHEREAS, A first-generation Mexican American whose parents are from the states of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila, Irma Aguirre was taught at a young age to value education and graduated sixth in her class from Mission High School; she went on to earn a bachelor's degree in bilingual education from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Ms. Aguirre then returned to Mission to teach, and her experiences in the classroom convinced her of the necessity of sound educational policy and procedure and motivated her to apply to the Moreno/Rangel program; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure with the Mexican American Legislative Caucus, Ms. Aguirre has been of great assistance to the members of the group, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; she has performed her duties as a legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and she may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Irma Aguirre as a participant in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend her for her notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Aguirre as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
