H.R. No. 2169
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lupe Silva was named the March 2011 McAllen Cancer
Fighter of the Month by the American Cancer Society; and
WHEREAS, Diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer in June
2009, Ms. Silva quickly underwent surgery and, following her
recovery, began chemotherapy treatment; she has since undergone two
more surgeries, the last one in December 2010, and is again
completing a round of chemotherapy; and
WHEREAS, CT scans currently reveal Ms. Silva to be
tumor-free, though blood work shows the fight is not yet over, and
she and her doctors remain vigilant; still, she proudly counts
herself among the survivors; and
WHEREAS, Through it all, Ms. Silva has drawn strength from
the love and prayers of her family and friends, and her unfaltering
courage has inspired all who know her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Lupe Silva for being named the
March 2011 McAllen Cancer Fighter of the Month and extend to her
sincere best wishes for continued recovery; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Silva as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
