H.R. No. 2173 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to a close when Maria Teresa Rabago passed away on December 20, 2010, at the age of 59; and WHEREAS, Born in Edinburg to Juan Rabago and Maria Elena Hinojosa, Terrie Rabago grew up in a close-knit family with seven siblings; she attended Pan American University and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Ms. Rabago became a realtor in 1996 and attained her broker's license in 2006, the same year she retired from a quarter-century of employment with the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, Possessed of a warm and generous spirit, Terrie Rabago nurtured her relationships with her loved ones, helped newcomers become connected to life in the Capitol City, and generously welcomed others into her Austin home, the site of much socializing and community-project strategizing over the years; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Leadership Texas, Ms. Rabago shared her talents with a host of community organizations and worthy causes; she sat on the boards of the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, the Austin History Center, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate Association), and TEACH Quest, served as president of the Austin chapter of the Hispanic Women's Network, and held a seat on Austin's Historic Landmark and Zoning and Platting Commissions, in addition to maintaining an affiliation with numerous other groups; and WHEREAS, Through her myriad endeavors, Terrie Rabago contributed to building a more inclusive, caring, and vibrant community, and those who were blessed to share in her love and affection will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Teresa Rabago and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her daughters, Laura Coulter and her husband, Doug, and Amber Stephens and her husband, Roger; to her grandchildren, Soriah and Dante Esquivel, Aiden Coulter, and Blake and Logan Stephens; to her parents, Juan Rabago and Maria Elena Hinojosa; to her brothers, Robert, Albert, Jose, and Jesse Rabago; to her sisters, Sandra Aguiar, Cecilia Mercado, and Eliena Hinojosa; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Terrie Rabago.
