 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Assistant Chief Mike Corley retired from the
 Richardson Police Department on April 30, 2010; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Midland High School, Mr. Corley began
 his career in law enforcement with the Midland Police Department in
 1974, and he joined RPD in 1980 as a patrol officer; during the
 course of his exemplary 30-year tenure there, he distinguished
 himself in numerous positions, including division commander of the
 investigative division and captain of the special operations
 division; and
 WHEREAS, Promoted to assistant chief in 2002, this
 outstanding law enforcement professional was responsible for the
 operations bureau as well as patrol and investigative operations;
 since retiring from RPD, he has become chief of police for the City
 of Brownwood; and
 WHEREAS, Chief Corley is a certified master peace officer and
 a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Leadership Command
 College; moreover, he holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice
 from Midwestern State University; he has served on the
 investigations committee for the International Association of
 Chiefs of Police, and he has published articles in the FBI Law
 Enforcement Bulletin and Police Chief magazine; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Chief Corley has enjoyed the
 love and support of his wife, Sheryl, and their two children; and
 WHEREAS, Mike Corley's dedication, professionalism, and
 commitment to the safety and welfare of the public greatly
 benefited the citizens of Richardson, and he may indeed reflect
 with pride on his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Corley on his retirement from
 the Richardson Police Department and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Chief Corley as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
