H.R. No. 2186 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Sergeant Tommy Ellis retired from the Richardson Police Department on September 30, 2010, drawing to a close a notable career with the department that spanned nearly three decades; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis initially served as an officer in the patrol and investigative divisions; after winning promotion to sergeant in 1994, he served as a supervisor in the patrol division and the traffic unit; he further distinguished himself as the head of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team for 15 years; and WHEREAS, This outstanding peace officer continues to serve the public today as a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Ellis's dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the safety and welfare of the public greatly benefited the citizens of Richardson, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his outstanding tenure with RPD; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Tommy Ellis on his retirement from the Richardson Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Ellis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
