No. 2282 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Residents of the Cedar Creek Lake area lost a beloved neighbor and admired civic leader with the passing of Charles Benjamin Stiff on May 9, 2011, at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, A native of Blossom, Mr. Stiff was born on October 13, 1934, to Edward and Nancy Stiff; he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy for eight years before joining Southwestern Fire and Casualty Insurance Company as an underwriter; devoted to his family, he shared 36 years with his wife, Euthema, with whom he had two sons, Michael and Bradley; and WHEREAS, The couple settled in the Cedar Creek Lake area in 1978, and Mr. Stiff became an active member of the community; through the years, he shared his time with the volunteer fire department, the school district, and the chamber of commerce; he served on the Gun Barrel City Council and as mayor and worked for the Athens Daily Review and the Cedar Creek Pilot, earning the nickname "Mr. Paparazzi" for his many years as a photographer; and WHEREAS, Known for his humor, enthusiasm, and generosity, Charles Stiff lived a caring and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Benjamin Stiff and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his son, Bradley Stiff; to his granddaughters, Lauren and Bailey Stiff; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles Benjamin Stiff.
