H.R. No. 2495
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Al Jones received the 2011 Brad Lomax Spirit of
Hospitality Award from the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors
Bureau in recognition of his commitment to local tourism; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Corpus Christi since 1970, Al Jones
first moved to the area to head the South Texas operations of
American Bank, which he leads today as president and CEO; a former
chair of the board of directors of the convention and visitors
bureau, he has long been aware of the important role tourism plays
in the community and its economy, and he has worked to promote the
city as a tourist destination; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones most recently led a successful effort at
his bank to raise $300,000 to install high-efficiency lights on the
Harbor Bridge in downtown Corpus Christi; the bridge has not been
lit since 1998; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has contributed significantly
to the economic prosperity and positive image of Corpus Christi,
and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious award; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Al Jones on his receipt of the 2011
Brad Lomax Spirit of Hospitality Award and extend to him sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
