 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Jesus M. Munoz retired from the
 U.S. Army on May 1, 2011, drawing to a close more than three decades
 of outstanding service; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Edinburg, Jesus Munoz joined the
 U.S. Army in June 1978; after receiving basic training at Fort
 Leonard Wood, Missouri, he began a career as a construction
 equipment mechanic, serving with engineering and maintenance units
 throughout the United States and completing assignments overseas in
 Germany and Korea; and
 WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Munoz further distinguished himself
 through his efforts in behalf of Operation Desert Storm and
 Operation Iraqi Freedom; he started a contingency maintenance shop
 in Iraq that designed and installed armor, providing extra
 protection against improvised explosive devices for vehicles and
 construction equipment; dedicated to the men and women with whom he
 served, he chose to postpone retirement to deploy to Iraq for a
 third time; and
 WHEREAS, During the course of his exemplary tenure, Master
 Sergeant Munoz received the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service
 Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with
 four oak leaf clusters, the Presidential Unit Citation, the
 Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Overseas Service Ribbon with
 three oak leaf clusters, among many other decorations; and
 WHEREAS, Jesus Munoz enjoys the love and support of his wife
 of 21 years, Jenifer, as well as their two sons, Nicholas and
 Alexander, and his close-knit family also includes his parents,
 Felicitas and Natividad Munoz, his brothers, Javier and Juan, and
 his sister, Dora; and
 WHEREAS, Jesus Munoz's professionalism and commitment to the
 highest ideals of the United States armed forces have earned him the
 lasting respect and admiration of his fellow service members, and
 he may indeed reflect with pride on the valuable contributions that
 he made to the defense of this nation; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Master Sergeant Jesus M. Munoz on
 his retirement from the U.S. Army and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for success and happiness in all of his future endeavors;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Master Sergeant Munoz as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
