 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A valiant son of the Lone Star State will soon be
 laid to rest in the country he so bravely served, when the remains
 of U.S. Army Corporal Eduardo Pedregon are repatriated to the
 United States from Korea, where he lost his life more than 60 years
 ago; and
 WHEREAS, A resident of El Paso, Eduardo Pedregon enlisted in
 the army in 1948, when he was just 17 years old; following the
 outbreak of the Korean War, this determined young soldier was among
 the U.S. troops sent to fight on the front lines of the conflict, as
 was his brother, Bobby, who was assigned to a different army unit;
 and
 WHEREAS, In November 1950, Eduardo was part of the 31st
 Infantry Regiment that was steadily driving back the North Korean
 army near the Chosin Reservoir, when a surprise offensive by the
 Chinese overwhelmed the United Nations forces; Corporal Pedregon
 was last seen on November 30, and he was officially listed as
 missing in action; and
 WHEREAS, His loved ones went decades without final word on
 his fate, but in March 2011 army officials notified them that
 Corporal Pedregon's remains had been recovered and identified; a
 memorial service is expected to take place in El Paso following
 repatriation, and the family hopes to ultimately have their loved
 one buried in Arlington National Cemetery; interment alongside the
 other honorable members of the armed forces who have been laid to
 rest in that cemetery will indeed be a fitting tribute to this
 courageous individual who made the ultimate sacrifice while
 fighting in behalf of his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the memory and the distinguished service
 of U.S. Army Corporal Eduardo Pedregon and extend deepest
 condolences to the members of his family; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Corporal
 Pedregon.
