H.R. No. 2658 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, David Medina of El Paso has distinguished himself through his notable community service and many achievements; and WHEREAS, Born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1965 to Andres and Yolanda Medina, Mr. Medina came to El Paso with his family at the age of eight; he began a job taking care of horses three years later, and then was employed at a neighborhood bakery after school and on weekends; he subsequently joined his father in the garment industry before going to work for Budweiser, where he started in the recycling department and has risen through the ranks to become a sales manager; he has also obtained his GED and enrolled in the University of Phoenix along the way; in all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife of more than a quarter-century, Sylvia, and he takes pride in a fine family that includes four daughters and two grandsons; and WHEREAS, Mr. Medina has shared his time and talents in many ways in the El Paso area; he has worked with the sheriff's department to prevent drunk driving, donated to American military troops and to Catholic churches, passed out turkeys to families at Thanksgiving, and helped with golf tournaments benefiting the arts, children in crisis, wounded veterans, cancer research, and students with financial need; and WHEREAS, Committed to building a stronger community, David Medina has garnered the lasting respect and admiration of his fellow citizens, and he is most deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor David Medina for his many contributions to his community and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Medina as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
