 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Linda
 Sue Brooks of Axtell, who passed away on May 9, 2011, at the age of
 60; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Louis and Dorthy Johnson, the former
 Linda Sue Johnson was a Chicago native who grew up in Tulsa; she
 earned a degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls
 and attended McLennan Community College in Waco; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Brooks was employed most recently as a part-time
 sales associate at Walmart and treasured the many friendships she
 made among coworkers and customers alike; she developed still
 another circle of friends through her love of bowling; a
 participant in two leagues, she was uncharacteristically
 competitive whenever she stepped to the line; in addition, she
 found great pleasure in artistic pursuits and expressed her
 creative flair through such avenues as scrapbooking, oil painting,
 and jewelry making; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply spiritual and compassionate, Ms. Brooks was
 quick to offer assistance to anyone in need; she previously
 volunteered with Fuzzy Friends Rescue, from which she adopted her
 beloved dog, Kady; and
 WHEREAS, Linda Brooks and her husband, Ted, shared a
 rewarding marriage of 27 years and enjoyed many happy times with
 their family, which has grown to include four children, nine
 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; in their leisure time,
 the couple took a number of cruises and traveled extensively; and
 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Linda Brooks
 will remember the way she touched their lives with her laughter and
 her kindness, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their
 hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Linda Sue Brooks and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
 husband, Ted Brooks; to her sons, Billy Ray Strickland and his wife,
 Sundee, and Larry Hulvey and his wife, Alayna; to her daughters,
 Sheila Tidrick and her husband, Beau, and Tammy Dunn and her
 husband, Stan; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to
 her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linda
 Brooks.
