 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Xinran Liu is graduating as the valedictorian of the
 senior class of Kingwood High School on May 28, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
 intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
 highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
 "Lilly" Liu demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range
 of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted
 to her studies are myriad; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Liu has distinguished herself as a member of the
 National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, and
 as a recipient of the Congressional Service Award; a member of the
 Houston Youth Symphony and orchestra, she was named Outstanding
 Soloist in University Interscholastic League competition, and she
 has been awarded Greentree Elementary and Kingwood Orchestra
 scholarships; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Liangjian and Yanlu Liu, Ms. Liu
 plans to attend Duke University and pursue a degree in economics;
 and
 WHEREAS, Lilly Liu has earned the respect and admiration of
 her teachers and classmates at Kingwood High, and her exceptional
 scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have
 opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young
 Texan; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Lilly Liu on being named
 valedictorian of the Kingwood High School Class of 2011 and extend
 to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the
 next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Liu as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
