H.R. No. 405
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
death of Trent Thompson of Brownwood on April 30, 2010, at the age
of 83; and
WHEREAS, Trent Thompson was born in Brownwood on July 15,
1926, to W. T. and Cosy Thompson; he answered his nation's call to
duty with service in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Belle Grove
(LSD-2) during World War II; driving landing craft as a seaman
second class, he saw combat in numerous battles in the Pacific
theater and was awarded several commendations for his valor; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson married the former Rosemary Hutson
following the war, and with her enjoyed a rewarding relationship of
63 years; the couple were the parents of four children, Barbara,
Mary, Steven, and Lindsay; and
WHEREAS, Employed at GTE for many years, he built a notable
career with the company before retiring; in his leisure time, he
took great pleasure in sharing his passion for hunting and fishing
with his friends and family; and
WHEREAS, Although Trent Thompson will be deeply missed,
cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in
the hearts of all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Trent Thompson and
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
wife, Rosemary Thompson; to his daughters, Barbara Thompson and
Mary Eaton and her husband, Don; to his son, Steven Trent Thompson,
and his wife, Catherine; to his grandchildren, Sherry Benjamin and
her husband, Ronnie, Christopher Eaton and his wife, Tonja, Trisha
Slaughter, Benjamin Trent Eaton, and Nora and Aidan Thompson; to
his great-grandchildren, Shane Benjamin and Annabelle and Parker
Eaton; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Trent
Thompson.
