R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Maricela Coronado of Honey Grove High School took a
top state honor at the Texas Beta Club Convention in Dallas on
January 14 and 15, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The National Beta Club was founded in 1934 to foster
in young people academic achievement, character, leadership, and
service to others; between junior and senior Beta Clubs, the
organization boasts more than 420,000 active members in over 8,000
clubs worldwide; and
WHEREAS, A sophomore at Honey Grove High School and a
first-year member of Beta Club, Maricela Coronado won first place
in the modern oratory category with her inspirational speech, "A
Volunteer State of Mind," which she presented to an audience of
1,600; and
WHEREAS, This gifted young woman is a source of great pride to
her family, her school, and her community, and it is a pleasure to
commend her on her achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Maricela Coronado on winning first
place in the modern oratory competition at the 2011 Texas Beta Club
Convention in Dallas and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Coronado as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
