R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Steve and Cissy Powell of Dallas
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Steve Powell and the former Cissy Thompson were
introduced by a mutual friend in October 1960, and after a whirlwind
courtship, the pair were married at St. Michael and All Angels
Episcopal Church in Dallas, less than three months after their
first meeting; and
WHEREAS, Soul mates and best friends, Mr. and Mrs. Powell
have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer
with the addition of two children, Priscilla and Casey; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Steve and Cissy Powell on their
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Powell as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
