 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Physical Therapy Association
 are visiting the State Capitol on February 22, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, A chapter of the American Physical Therapy
 Association, the Texas Physical Therapy Association was founded in
 1930; today, it represents more than 4,000 physical therapists,
 physical therapist assistants, and physical therapy students; the
 organization is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of
 Texans by advancing physical therapy practice; and
 WHEREAS, Physical therapists use their extensive clinical
 experience and knowledge to diagnose and treat people of all ages,
 from newborns to elderly individuals, who suffer from conditions
 that limit the body's ability to move and function in daily life;
 these highly skilled professionals provide care in a variety of
 settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient
 clinics, home health agencies, schools, workplaces, nursing homes,
 and sports and fitness facilities; and
 WHEREAS, When movement is impaired, physical therapists can
 develop a plan of care using a variety of treatment techniques to
 reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability; fitness and
 wellness programs can be tailored to the specific needs of an
 individual to preserve mobility, and a physical therapist may team
 with a physical therapist assistant, an educated and licensed
 clinician who works under his or her supervision; and
 WHEREAS, Through their commitment to excellence in health
 care, the members of the Texas Physical Therapy Association make a
 positive difference in the lives of their fellow Texans, and it is
 indeed fitting to recognize their important contributions; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the members of the Texas Physical Therapy
 Association and extend to them sincere best wishes for a memorable
 visit to Austin; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
