 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of John
 Henry Fuchs, Jr., of Huntsville, who passed away on February 4,
 2011, at the age of 87; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Houston to Gertrude Wagner Fuchs and John
 Henry Fuchs, Sr., on February 3, 1924, John Fuchs graduated from
 Reagan High School in 1942 and attended Texas Tech before joining
 the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II; on his first combat
 mission, his plane was shot down over Germany, and he spent eight
 months as a prisoner of war; and
 WHEREAS, Liberated when the war ended, Mr. Fuchs met Stella
 Preston at a homecoming party for returning POWs, and they were
 married on October 19, 1947; the couple shared more than five and a
 half decades together until her passing in 2003, and they had the
 pleasure of welcoming into their family two children, Trudy and
 John; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Fuchs worked in the geophysical industry, rising
 to the rank of senior vice president; in his leisure time, he
 enjoyed traveling, taking care of his cattle, and raising homing
 pigeons; a resident of Huntsville since 1967, he became involved in
 the HEARTS Veterans Museum of Texas, which seeks to preserve the
 stories of those who fought for our nation, and he also served on
 the city's veterans advisory board; he was known for his warm and
 gregarious personality, which allowed him to make many friends
 through the years; and
 WHEREAS, Though he is deeply missed, John Fuchs will forever
 be remembered with great admiration and affection, and his devotion
 to his country and to his family will be a continuing source of
 inspiration for those who had the good fortune to know him; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Henry Fuchs, Jr.,
 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 daughter, Stella G. "Trudy" Fuchs; to his son, John Henry Fuchs III,
 and his wife, Nancy; to his niece, Rita Donaldson; and to his other
 relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Henry
 Fuchs, Jr.
