R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Pizza Hut and Yum! Restaurants International are
celebrating the dedication of their new corporate headquarters in
Plano on March 1, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1958, Pizza Hut has been based in North
Texas since 1994 and today operates nearly 10,000 locations in more
than 90 countries; Yum! Restaurants International is a leader in
multinational retail development, with nearly 14,300 restaurants
in more than 110 countries; in 2010, it marked its 10th year in
which it opened more than 700 new restaurants around the world; and
WHEREAS, These two companies are subsidiaries of Yum! Brands,
Inc., and are well-known for their charitable endeavors, including
the BOOK IT! program, which motivates children to read, and the
World Hunger Relief effort, which has raised millions of dollars to
benefit the United Nations World Food Programme; and
WHEREAS, Bringing hundreds of jobs and increased economic
activity to Plano, Pizza Hut and Yum! Restaurants International are
contributing to the overall prosperity of the Lone Star State, and
they are indeed deserving of a warm welcome to their new home; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Pizza Hut and Yum! Restaurants
International on the dedication of their new corporate headquarters
in Plano and extend to all those associated with the companies
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for Pizza Hut and Yum! Restaurants International as an expression
of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
