 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life has come to an end with the
 death of Sharon Ann Dykes of Horseshoe Bay on November 29, 2010, at
 the age of 70; and
 WHEREAS, The former Sharon Tuckey was born in Ballinger in
 1940 to J. G. and Mary Lou Tuckey; she graduated from Ballinger High
 School, where she met her future husband, William Taylor "Spike"
 Dykes; married in 1958, they were blessed with three children,
 Rick, Bebe, and Sonny, as well as six grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, During the early years of their marriage, the couple
 moved often, following Mr. Dykes's career as he coached football in
 a number of communities, including Coahoma, Eastland, San Angelo,
 Belton, Big Spring, Alice, and Midland; Mrs. Dykes became expert in
 managing and moving her household, children, and pets from town to
 town; and
 WHEREAS, In 1971, the Dykes family settled in Austin, where
 Mr. Dykes joined the coaching staff of The University of Texas, and
 in 1984, they moved to Lubbock, where Mr. Dykes assumed the post of
 head football coach at Texas Tech University; during her years in
 Lubbock, Mrs. Dykes was an essential part of the Red Raider family
 and a valued member of First United Methodist Church; and
 WHEREAS, After Coach Dykes retired in 1999, the couple made
 their home in Horseshoe Bay; Mrs. Dykes took great pleasure in
 traveling, gardening, and the arts; she was a devoted wife and a
 loving mother and grandmother; and
 WHEREAS, Sharon Dykes touched the lives of countless
 individuals through her quiet strength and gentle and gracious
 nature, and she will be forever remembered with deep affection by
 all who held her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sharon Ann Dykes and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
 husband of 52 years, Spike Dykes; to her sons, Rick Dykes and his
 wife, Shelley, and Sonny Dykes and his wife, Kate; to her daughter,
 Bebe Petree, and her husband, Larry; to her sisters, Linda Reinhart
 and her husband, Dick, Dian Pack and her husband, Charles, and
 Cynthia Devlin; to her grandchildren, Jessica Dykes Oatman and her
 husband, Mark, Julianne Dykes, Dusty Dykes, Casey Petree, Taylor
 Petree, and Alta Caroline Dykes; and to her other relatives and
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sharon Ann
 Dykes.
