H.R. No. 851
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Terry Greer has been named the 2011 Firefighter of
the Year by the Mesquite Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, A member of the department for more than 25 years,
Mr. Greer has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues in
his work as a driver-engineer; his stature within the department
was reflected in his October 2009 appointment to the newly created
position of Fleet Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Greer was tasked with coordinating the repairs
and preventive maintenance of the department's apparatus fleet, as
well as with improving its readiness and safety; this dedicated
public servant developed the necessary procedures and forged a new
relationship with the City of Mesquite Equipment Services Division;
as a result of his work, a backlog of needed repairs has been
greatly reduced; and
WHEREAS, Through his exemplary performance as a member of the
Mesquite Fire Department, Terry Greer serves as an inspiration to
his fellow firefighters, and his outstanding efforts have helped
make his community an even safer place in which to live and work;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Terry Greer on his selection as the
2011 Firefighter of the Year by the Mesquite Fire Department and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Greer as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
