 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Pete Kauffman of Georgetown marked a special
 milestone in his life with the observance of his 90th birthday on
 March 1, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, After graduating from Liberty Hill High School in
 1939, Pete Kauffman attended Southwest Texas State College, where
 he played on the Bobcats football team; he married his high school
 sweetheart, Nell, in 1941, and he and his wife became the proud
 parents of three children, Jim Kauffman, Rebecca Kauffman Pfiester,
 and Al Kauffman; today their fine family has grown to include seven
 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Pete and Nell Kauffman
 shared a rewarding relationship until her passing; and
 WHEREAS, A farmer and rancher for 70 years, Mr. Kauffman was
 named Outstanding Agriculturist of Williamson County in 1975; his
 love of the land and his interest in encouraging young people who
 hope to pursue a similar vocation are reflected in the two $5,000
 Pete and Nell Kauffman Scholarships that are awarded annually by
 the Williamson County A&M Club; the grants are intended for
 students from Liberty Hill High School and Georgetown High School
 who plan to study agriculture or land use at Texas A&M University;
 and
 WHEREAS, Deeply interested in the welfare of his community,
 this esteemed gentleman has played an active role over the years in
 a host of community endeavors and organizations; his many
 contributions in this arena have included service as a member of the
 Liberty Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees; and
 WHEREAS, Pete Kauffman is a treasured source of wisdom and
 inspiration to his family and numerous friends, and it is a pleasure
 to honor him on nine decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Pete Kauffman on his 90th birthday
 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Kauffman as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
