 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Deysi Martinez of Channelview has distinguished
 herself by quickly mastering English as her second language and
 winning third-place honors in the spelling bee at Crenshaw
 Elementary School; and
 WHEREAS, Miss Martinez could not speak English when she first
 enrolled in the Channelview Independent School District in the
 spring of 2010; in just a few short months, however, she became
 fluent by studying hard with her teachers at Crenshaw Elementary
 and by practicing with her classmates and a computer language
 program; and
 WHEREAS, Now a fourth grader, this remarkable young girl
 improved her language skills so quickly that she decided to take
 part in the school-wide Crenshaw spelling bee; her third-place
 finish has thrilled her teachers and parents, and she will now have
 the opportunity to participate in the district-wide spelling
 competition; and
 WHEREAS, Miss Martinez has also done an outstanding job with
 her other schoolwork and was named the Crenshaw Student of the Month
 for February 2011 in recognition of her good grades and excellent
 citizenship skills; and
 WHEREAS, In realizing her impressive accomplishments, Deysi
 Martinez has demonstrated considerable intelligence and
 dedication, and she may indeed take great pride in her success; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Deysi Martinez on rapidly
 mastering English as her second language and on placing third in the
 Crenshaw Elementary School spelling bee and extend to her sincere
 best wishes for a bright future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Miss Martinez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
