No. 933 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, In May 2011, 12 distinguished Webelos Scouts from Cub Scout Pack No. 710, Den No. 8, chartered by The Lamplighter School in Dallas, will be publicly honored with the Arrow of Light Award, and their accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, An integral part of the Boy Scouts of America, the Cub Scout organization emphasizes outdoor stewardship and adventure, leadership, sportsmanship, community service, family relationships, religious duties, character development, good citizenship, and personal fitness; those Webelos Scouts who persevere by earning five additional activity badges and fulfilling all the other requirements are recognized and presented with the Arrow of Light Award, which is Cub Scouting's highest rank; and WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack No. 710 offers year-round programming for boys in the first through fourth grades; throughout their Cub Scouting experience, these fine young Texans hone their skills in such areas as camping, athletics, teamwork, first aid, knot tying, and knife safety, as well as in woodworking, science, conservation, and artistic expression; and WHEREAS, The Webelos Scouts of Pack No. 710, Den No. 8, who have earned the Arrow of Light Award are Douglas Cowman, Harry Crutcher, Harrison Hall, Patrick Kerrigan, Duncan Kirstein, Dane Kozelsky, Ben Lancashire, Grant Needleman, Colin Neuhoff, Quinn O'Brien, Ethan Rothstein, and Jacob Shepherd, all of whom are well deserving of this prestigious award and have made lifelong friendships through scouting; and WHEREAS, In fulfilling the criteria for achieving the Arrow of Light Award, these Webelos Scouts have demonstrated bold and admirable determination in the pursuit of their goals, and all of them, together with their parents and Cub Scout leaders, may indeed reflect with tremendous pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the above-named Webelos Scouts from Cub Scout Pack No. 710 who have earned the Arrow of Light Award and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and adventure; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
