No. 993 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, In a demonstration of great skill and teamwork, the Crawford High School Lady Pirates basketball team captured the 2010-2011 District 16-2A championship; and WHEREAS, Crawford posted an overall record of 23 wins and just 8 losses, including a stellar mark of 12-2 in district play to secure the 16-2A crown; the Lady Pirates continued their fine play in the postseason, defeating Life School Oak Cliff by a score of 39-36 and posting a 51-48 win over Leon High School before ultimately falling in the regional semifinal to Godley High; and WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Lady Pirates received valuable contributions from each member of the roster: Haley Daily, Haylie Knuppel, Allie Smith, Kirsten Goodwin, Ixayana Castro, Annie Dunlap, Ellen Whitney, Lindy Jones, Jordyn Villa, and Kait Westerfeld; and WHEREAS, Ably guided by head coach Brandon Ely, the team also benefited from the support of assistant coaches Heidi Elmore and Jeff Coker as well as team managers Sarah Davis and Darrion Knox; and WHEREAS, The hard work and commitment to excellence exemplified by these talented student-athletes have made them a tremendous source of pride to their many supporters in the local community, and those qualities will continue to serve them well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Crawford High School Lady Pirates on winning the 2010-2011 District 16-2A basketball championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
