                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 21, 2011      TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher Education      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1067 by Ellis (Relating to funding the TEXAS grant program at public institutions of higher education.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  This bill adds a section to the Education Code that permits academic institutions eligible for the TEXAS Grant program to solicit and to accept gifts from public and private sources to fund these grants for students attending the institution.  Institutions are further allowed to engage in naming and sponsorship activites related to these solicitations and gifts.  This new activity can be completed with existing resources and imposes no significant fiscal requirements upon the eligible institutions. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
