                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 21, 2011      TO: Honorable Steve Ogden, Chair, Senate Committee on Finance      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1143 by Uresti (Relating to the regulation of orthotists and prosthetists.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 605, Occupations Code, relating to the regulation of orthotists and prosthetists, to include nurses and physicians assistants in the provisions of the chapter, provided they are acting with authority delegated by a licensed physician, chiropractor, or podiatrist. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. The Department of State Health Services indicates that implementation of the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
