The bill would amend the Transportation Code to designate various highway segments in Texas as the Purple Heart Trail. The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect highway markers on each highway segment indicating the designation. Section 225.021 (c) of the Transportation Code, specifies that TxDOT is not required to design, construct, or erect the marker unless a grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the cost.
