The bill would allow the use of countywide polling places for certain elections and would require the Secretary of State to establish rules. It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact It is assumed that a commissioners court of a county would elect to participate in the countywidepolling place program only if funds are available; however, fiscal impact is not anticipated to be significant.
