                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 2, 2011      TO: Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1638 by Davis (Relating to the exception of certain personal information from required disclosure under the public information law.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Public Information Act to generally except from disclosure: (1) a current or former employee's emergency contact information; (2) motor vehicle record or personal identification information from another state or country; and (3) a copy of an identification badge issued to an official employee of a governmental entity. This analysis assumes that any costs associated with implementing the bill's provisions could be met with existing resources. The bill would take immediate effect upon receiving two-thirds votes of all members in each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
