LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 6, 2011 TO: Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Open Government, Select FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB1692 by Lucio (Relating to municipal and county budgets on the Internet.), As Introduced No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Local Government Code to require a municipality or a county that maintains an Internet website to ensure that a copy of the final approved budget is posted on the website. The bill would require the Comptroller to provide a link on its Internet website to each municipality and county that posts budget information online. Based on the analysis of the Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. According to information provided to the Comptroller of Public Accounts by Hidalgo and Lubbock Counties, there would be no fiscal impact; however, Lipscomb County reported there would be a cost of $350 annually for a contract with an Internet Services Provider.
