                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 4, 2011      TO: Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB247 by Shapiro (Relating to the authority of the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission to participate in the establishment and operation of an affiliated nonprofit organization and provide grants.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would authorize the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission (Commission) to provide matching grants to assist in implementation of the Commission's goals and objectives. The bill would also authorize the Commission to participate in the establishment and operation of an affiliated nonprofit organization created to raise funds or provide services or other benefits to the Commission. The Commission indicated that the affiliated nonprofit would raise funds for the matching grants. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.
